Gladys Eva Teague

April 21, 1918 — March 27, 2014

Gladys E. Dunlop Teague, 95, entered Heaven on March 27 to enjoy eternal life won for her through the death and resurrection of her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2005, her brother Leslie, and sister Beatrice. Born April 21, 1918, in Waltham, Massachusetts and raised in Provincetown, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Dunlop. Most recently residing in Cedar Rapids, she and her husband pastored churches for 50 years in Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, and Pennsylvania. Gladys touched the lives of many people in numerous places and in various roles. She had a gift for gracious hospitality and lived a uniquely fulfilling life serving others as a spiritual mentor, counselor, and encourager. She was a true friend to all who knew her, had a positive, fun-loving spirit, and always reached out to help people. She dearly loved studying, memorizing, and teaching scripture through countless Bible study groups and delighted in sharing her faith with others. She was an avid reader who greatly appreciated poetry and the classics, and was well-versed in literature. She enjoyed writing, especially letters of encouragement to her many friends. As matriarch of her family, Gladys was a loving mother and grandmother who prayed faithfully, passing on a godly legacy. She is survived by four children, Susan R. and her husband, Michael Gradwell of Mount Vernon, Nancy S. and her husband, Charlie Blanks of Littleton, Colorado, Sally R. Kirkpatrick of Lisbon, and her late husband Roger, and Dr. Peter W. Teague and his wife, Paulette of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. A memorial service will be held on June 7 at Northbrook Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids, with her grandson, the Rev. Rob Blanks officiating, assisted by her pastor the Rev. Eric Schumacher. Interment will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of her granddaughter, Jessica, c/o Jessica and Friends Community, 218 Dew Drop Road, York, PA 17402.
