Funeral services for Glen "Avie" Anderson, 74, of Tipton who died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at home following a courageous battle with cancer, will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church, Tipton with Pastor Paul Frederiksen officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Avie was born April 15, 1937 in Rochester, Iowa, to Donald and Lucy (Chaney-Taylor) Anderson. He was a 1955 graduate of Tipton High School. He was united in marriage to Carol Albaugh in 1957 at the United Methodist Church in Mechanicsville. Avie served in the United States Army from 1958-1964. Avie and Carol were active in farming and hog operations for 28 years until Avie suffered a stroke. Avie was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Cedar County Pork Producers. He was active with the Cedar County 4-H Chapter and was selected as an Iowa Master Pork Producer in 1972. Avie is loved and survived by his wife, Carol Ann Anderson of Tipton; sons, Jeff Anderson of Austin, Texas, Kevin (Janet) Anderson of Tipton, Craig (Esther) Anderson of Clarence, Brad (Mel) Anderson of West Liberty; brother, Richard Anderson of Tipton; sister, Lois Jean (Richard) Wehde of Storm Lake; grandchildren, Leslie (Jerod) Timmerman, Lindsey (James) Whitfield, Travis, Josh, Nicholas, Ashley, Brady, and Baylee Anderson; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Chase Timmerman, Elijah "Avie", Isaiah, Tiayla, Tyrone, and Joey Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lucy Anderson; brother, Lester Anderson; mother and father-in-law, Willard and Lucille Albaugh; sister-in-law, Carol L. Anderson; and niece, Jane Postier. Memorials may be made to the Glen Anderson Memorial Fund in memory of Avie.
