Glenn Larry Eaton, 82, Tipton, passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024 at Cedar Manor nursing home in Tipton surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton and officiated by Rev. Ron Lashmit. Burial will follow at the Masonic cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 at Fry Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Glenn was born Feb. 23, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Glenn W. Eaton and LaVaughn A. Hoon Eaton. Glenn graduated from Tipton high school in 1959 and went on to attend Iowa State University before graduating from the University of Iowa with his business degree in 1963. He married Diane Kay Armstrong in 1959.
Glenn was employed in his family’s business at Honeymead Feed and then Farmers’ Feed and Supply. He managed the Redwood Restaurant in Tipton for a brief period of time. He went on to become a licensed insurance agent and then manager for Farm Bureau Insurance. Glenn went on to own his own real estate company with Iowa Realty where he retired from.
Glenn was an active member of the Tipton Lions Club, Tipton city council and the Tipton Methodist church. He enjoyed bike riding, including participating in RAGBRAI, snowmobiling, singing in the choir at church and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Diane and their three daughters, Sally A. Welker, Kimberly Leitch and Jill Rich. His younger sister, Wendy LeVan and brother-in-law, Mark LeVan and their son, Nicholas and wife, Megan LeVan and their three children, Ryan, Eathon and Gabrielle. Glenn also had six grandchildren, Derek Sterner, Brent Hostler, Brittney Sterner, Desarae Sheppard, Garett Sterner and Cole Leitch. Also, nine great grandchildren, Autumn Sheldahl, Devin Sterner, Anabel Hostler, Isabel Sheppard, Payten Sheppard, Madeline Hostler, Isla Leitch, Harper Sterner and Ava Leitch.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his older sister, Jacqueline Eaton and his sons-in-law, Richard Rich and Terry Leitch.
Memorials may be given in Glenn’s name to Friends of the Animals, Tipton.
