Gordon Douglas Olseen, 75, of Tipton, died suddenly of a heart attack on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in his new home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at noon, Trinity Lutheran Church, Tipton, with Pastor Beth Wartick officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until noon before the funeral begins. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral. Burial will be private at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Gordon was born on July 30, 1941 in Stromsburg, Nebraska. He was the son of Harley and Laura Peterson Olseen. He graduated from high school in 1959 in Stromsburg, Nebraska and from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota with a BA degree in business. He then served his country in Germany with an honorable discharge. He started his career with State Farm Insurance in 1966 as a field claim adjuster in Dubuque where he met and married his wife, Susan Price of nearly 50 years. That union produced 2 children; Steven Olseen and Kristine Cheruk. He then went into agency with State Farm in Tipton where he served the community from 1978 until he retired in 2007. He is survived by his wife, Susan of Tipton; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Angie Olseen of Tipton; daughter and son-in-law, Kristine and Christopher Cheruk of Cheshire, Connecticut; brother and sister-in-law, Marlowe and Pam Johnson of Stromsburg, Nebraska; 7 grandsons, Alexander Cheruk, Gabriel Cheruk, Andrew Olseen, Jonathan Olseen, Brant Olseen, Bryce Olseen and Caleb Olseen. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, William Olseen.
