Listen to Obituary

Gretchen Lea (Nebergall) Bozwell, 55, of Taylors, South Carolina, formerly of Tipton, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 18, 2026, at Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, South Carolina, following a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Gretchen was born October 1, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Glen Eldon Nebergall and Susan Jo Nebergall. She was raised in Tipton, Iowa, where she grew up a true farm girl, driving tractors, making hay, and helping with the daily work of the farm. She also maintained a lifelong passion for the Iowa Hawkeyes, though she commingled a bit of Clemson orange in later years.

She graduated from Tipton Bible Church School in 1989 and went on to attend Bob Jones University, where she graduated with a degree in Public Relations Journalism in 1993.

On May 13, 1995, Gretchen was united in marriage to Ronald Albert Bozwell in Greenville, South Carolina. They were blessed with one son, Ashton Glen Bozwell.

Together with her husband, Gretchen owned and operated Bozwell Photography. She had a gift for connecting with people and making them feel comfortable and at ease; many who came to her as clients left as friends.

Gretchen came to know and love her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a young age and carried that faith unwaveringly throughout her life. She was a member of Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church in Greer, South Carolina, where she shared her gifts as an accomplished pianist. Her faith remained steadfast throughout her illness, serving as a quiet and powerful witness to those around her. She never complained and lived with a sense of peace and purpose, reflecting the words of Scripture that she had “fought the good fight.” She held fast to Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Above all, Gretchen was a devoted mother and a faithful companion. She was known for her compassion, her strength, and her ability to listen and care deeply for others.

Honoring her wishes, Gretchen returned home to Iowa, a place that always held her heart.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Bozwell of Taylors, South Carolina; son, Ashton Bozwell; mother, Susan Nebergall of Tipton, Iowa and Taylors, South Carolina; father- and mother-in-law, Bill and Linda Bozwell of Burlington, Iowa; sister, Heidi (Tim) Neese of Swannanoa, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Ruth (John) Christison, West Burlington, Iowa; a niece and nephew; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Nebergall; and her grandparents, Verl and Gertrude Nebergall, and Frank and Frances Norris.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at South Bethel Cemetery, with Pastor Jonathan Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, PO Box 893 | Greer, SC 29652.
