Gwendolyn "Gwen" Gail Thien

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Gail Thien, 69, of Tipton, IA, entered eternity on Friday, July 7, 2023 while at Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Services for Gwen will be at the First United Church of Christ, Tipton on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, with Visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am and Funeral service at 11:00 am. Immediately following the funeral service, Gwen will be laid to rest in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. After the Graveside service, family and friends are invited back to the church for a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to either the National Alliance on Mental Illness, at donate.nami.org/ or, the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, at donate.bbrfoundation.org/. Online condolences may be shared and Gwen’s full obituary may be read on www.fryfuneralhome.com Gwen was born at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA on Sunday, July 12, 1953, to Lloyd and Alberta (Wenndt) Thien. Gwen graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1972 and went on to work for Crossroads in Muscatine. She was a member of the Girls and Boys 4-H Club of Tipton and a member of Tipton’s First United Church of Christ. Gwen is survived by her sisters, Glenda Thien Morgan (Dan) of Ormond Beach, FL, and Greta O'Clair (Dave) of Clarence, IA; brothers, Gary (Carol) Thien of Council Bluffs, IA, and Greg Thien (Michelle) of Tipton, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Robert Thien (1992); mother, Alberta Louise (Wenndt)Thien (2020); and sister, Gayla Ellyson.
