Hazel M. Andresen, 89, formerly of Tipton, died Saturday, December 07, 2013 in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be held at Fry Funeral Home on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm with David Fry serving as Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 prior to the start of the service. Burial of her cremated remains will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. A memorial is established for the Tipton Public Library. Hazel was the daughter of William F. and Frieda Rixe Hamilton and was born on April 10, 1924 in Tipton. Hazel was a 1942 graduate of Tipton High School and a graduate of Paris Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids. Hazel was united in marriage to Ralph W. Andresen on May 7, 1944 in Clarence, Iowa. She was a past member of the First United Church of Christ, Women of the Moose, VFW Auxiliary and various church circles. She was a beautician for 44 years. Hazel is survived by her daughters, Marcia (Steve) Strasburger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Elise Kukuzke of Marengo, Iowa; son, William Andresen of Jersey City, New Jersey; brothers, Maynard Hamilton of Punta Gorda, Florida and Edward Hamilton of Humboldt, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters; Grace Olson, Doris Hines, Rosalie Roads and Angia McQuillen; brothers, William and Dale Hamilton.
