Hazel Ida Griebel Hartwig, 92, of Bennett, Iowa, died July 10, 2015 at Wheatland Manor after a short illness. Services will be held 10:00am, Tuesday, July 14th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bennett. Pastor Jordan McKinley will officiate. Burial will be in Inland Cemetery, Bennett. Visitation is 4 to 7pm , Monday, July 13th at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Hazel was born July 2, 1923, in Lake County, South Dakota to Nicolai and Erna (Beyer) Griebel. She married Clarence Hartwig on February 6, 1946, in Bennett. They farmed north of Bennett for 40 years, retiring in 1988. Hazel was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bennett and was very involved in church activities, including the Ladies Aid, plus Sunday School and Confirmation teacher. She was also an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed quilting and working in her flower garden. She had a special place in her heart for little children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorials can be given to the Bennett Ambulance, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, or the American Cancer Society. Survivors include her son Jerry Hartwig, and wife, Kay-Nelle, of Long Grove; daughters, Dr. Jan Murphy, and husband, Dr. Edward, of Portland, Oregon, and Janine Schmitt, and husband, Colby of Aurora, Illinois; grandchildren Dr. Edward Murphy, Daniel (Megan Smith) Murphy, David Murphy, Andrew Hartwig, and Angela Hartwig (and fiancé
