Herbert Arnold Raap

Herbert "Arnie" Raap, 92, of Wheatland, passed away at 5:15 PM on Tuesday, October 2, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 10:00 AM, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with Pastor Richard Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Inland Cemetery, Bennett. Son of William H. and Emma Raap, Herbert was born September 2, 1920 in Withee, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Laverna Elizabeth Kleppe on September 5, 1945. Herbert was a lifelong farmer who raised purebred Duroc pigs and was a seed corn salesman for over 20 years. Herbert is survived by his daughters, Lois (Thomas) Hartog of Davenport, Ruth Raap of Davenport, and Emma (Keith) Mason of Wheatland; grandchildren, Deanna Carroll & husband, Stewart, John Oberhaus, Kyle Mason, Elizabeth Mason, Emma Kathryn Mason and Eric Mason; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Carroll and Abigail Carroll. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverna, on May 5, 2007; brothers, William, Robert, Ed, Henry; and two sisters who passed away as children.
