Hilbert Upton Ford

Hilbert Upton Ford, 81, passed away peacefully in Glendale, Arizona on May 13, 2013. He was born on July 17, 1931 in Stanwood, Iowa to Hilbert Blair Ford and Ina Rohwedder Ford, long time Tipton, Iowa residents. He grew up in Tipton and attended Tipton Consolidated School where he excelled and set state records in football and track. He was employed by Bendix Aviation in Davenport, Iowa and later Lockheed-Martin in Denver, Colorado and Slidell, Louisiana where he worked in finance. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2008 to be near his family. He was an avid golfer and loved bowling and football. He is survived by his six children Deborah (John) Bryant, Rebecca (Paul) Zancanelli, Michael Ford, Steven (Lynda) Ford, Jeffrey (Jill) Ford and Julie Ford, fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also survived by his sister Judy (Don) Timm and brother Terry (Phyllis) Ford, numerous nieces, nephews and his two previous wife's Frances Hodler Ford and Jeanette Ford Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandsons Paul and Mark Johnson, and his nephew Daniel Timm. A memorial service is planned at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, Iowa at 3 P.M. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 with burial in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
