Hilda Brown

Hilda Louise Friedrichsen, daughter of Peter M. and Bertha Carstensen Friedrichsen, was born September 22, 1919 in rural Jones County near Center Junction. Hilda graduated from Wyoming High School in 1936. On July 11, 1939 Hilda was united in marriage to John Howard Carey in Kahoka, Missouri. Hilda and John were parents to Suzanne and Steven. John died on November 11, 1969. On May 25, 1980 Hilda was united in marriage to Darrell E. Brown in Iowa City, Iowa Hilda worked as a secretary for the Soil Conservation Service for 26 years retiring in 1982. Hilda and Darrell were married for nearly 30 years and enjoyed the times they traveled and playing cards with family and friends. Hilda is survived by her husband, Darrell of Tipton; her daughter, Suzanne (Bob) Steege of Telco Village in Louden, Tennessee; her son, Steven (Sharon) Carey of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; 3 grandchildren, Jeff Steege, Kimberly Eppel and Matt Carey; and 4 great grandchildren. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, John Carey, 3 sisters, Anna Seehusen, Frieda Cramer and Emma Fall.
