James Lee Ahrens, son of John Louis & Blanche Evans Ahrens, was born January 30, 1943, in Moline, Illinois. He graduated from Bennett High School in 1961 and from Iowa State University in 1965. On February 1, 1975, James was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann Marburger in St. Louis, Missouri. James was employed as a USDA Inspector. He was a member of the Peace Corps from 1966-1968, Master Woodland Managers, Past Lions Member, 4H, Iowa Woodland Owners Association, FFA, and received the Iowa Farmer degree. James was baptized on March 7, 1943 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island, Illinois and confirmed May 13, 1956 at St. Paul's in Bennett, Iowa. James is loved and survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ahrens of West Branch, Iowa; his mother, Blanche Ahrens of Tipton, Iowa; his daughters, Gretchen Ahrens of Ashland, Nebraska, Rachel Ahrens of Omaha, Nebraska and Amanda Ahrens of Ames, Iowa; his sisters, Kathy Triebe & husband, Bill of Somerset, Pennsylvania and Bonnie Marburger & husband, Duane of Bloomfield, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, John Ahrens on January 1, 2002. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to LHRA and/or Trinity Lutheran Church.
