James "Jimmy" Richard Miller

James “Jimmy” Richard Miller, 92, of Mechanicsville, died on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at the Clarence Nursing Home, Clarence, IA. He donated his body to the University of Iowa for research. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 10th from noon to 3:00 pm at Howard Sivers Residence, 223 Garfield Avenue, Mechanicsville, Iowa 52306. Cards and memorials mailed to 23585 Ridge Rd. E-28, Anamosa, IA 52205. Family will forward memorials to the Mechanicsville American Legion. Jimmy was born to Cornelius John and Cecil May (Shrope) Miller on Saturday, January 17, 1931 in Mechanicsville, IA. He graduated from Mechanicsville High School with the Class of 1949. From October 1950 until March 1952 Jimmy served his country in the US Marine Corp. He fought in the Korean War and was awarded two Purple Hearts. After his return from the war, Jimmy married Patricia “Patsy” Louise Seehusen on August 23, 1952 and they spent their life together farming. Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Lou Ann (David) Cook of Naples, FL and Wendy (Kevin) Bird of Anamosa, IA; son-in-law, Howard (Beth Doyle) Siver of Mechanicsville, IA; sister, Dorothy Wendt of Mechanicsville, IA; grandchildren, Trent (Dawn Sanders) Siver, Kolter Siver, and Taylor (Jamie Mulry) Bang; and great-grandchild, Atlas Mulry-Bang. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy; and sister, June Eiler.
