Jane Elizabeth Shumaker

Funeral services for Jane Elizabeth Shumaker, 86, of Tipton, who died Sunday, February 20, 2011, will be held on Friday, February, 25, 2011, 10:00 am at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with Pastor David Lorenzen officiating. Organist will be Nancy Hipple and casket bearers are: Richard L. Shumaker, Robert Shumaker, Randall Shumaker, Shane Martin, Charles Phares, and Richard F. Shumaker. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 24, 2011 from 4-7pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will take place in Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Jane Elizabeth Gless Shumaker, daughter of Frank and Elvira Corbin Gless, was born May 3, 1924, in Calamus, Iowa. She was a graduate of Davenport Central High School. Jane was united in marriage to Richard Claude Shumaker on April 3, 1946, in Blue Grass, Iowa. Jane was employed as a teacher and was a devoted homemaker, farmwife and owner of Shumaker Orchard Farms. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Bennett Garden Club, Pork Producers Porkette's, Farm Bureau, and Cedar County Co-op and was a Master Gardener. Jane is loved and survived by her daughter, Vicki Phares of Conway, Arkansas; son, Richard "R.F." (Bonnie) Shumaker of Tipton, Iowa; grandchildren, Richard (Heidi) Shumaker, Rebecca (Shane) Martin, Robert Shumaker, Randall (Elizabeth) Shumaker, Charles Phares, and Elizabeth Phares; great-grandchildren, Melissa, Michelle, and Megan Martin and Erica, Caleb, Abigail, and Andrew Shumaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elvira Gless; her husband, Richard Shumaker on February 10, 1996; sisters, Gladys Grimm and Marie Hartman; and brothers, William, Clyde, and Donald Gless. Memorials may be made to the First United Church of Christ in memory of Jane.
