Jeanette Lenore Foote

Jeanette Foote, 89, of Mechanicsville passed away, in the presence of her children, January 3, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services to honor her memory and life will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2013, at 2pm, in the First United Church of Christ of Tipton, IA. Reverend David Lorenzen will officiate. Burial will follow at Inland Cemetery, of rural Bennett. Visitation will be held Monday evening, from 4-6pm at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, IA. Memorials may be made to the First United Church of Christ, Tipton. Jeanette was born July 22, 1924 in Cedar County, Iowa. Her loving parents were Herman & Lizzy (Juchter) Rixe. Jeanette was a proud graduate of Bennett High School; Class of 1944. After graduation, Jeanette married Elmer Freese on March 6, 1949. Jeanette and Elmer had 2 children, Marlyn and Vesta. Elmer passed away March 7, 1958. Later, Jeanette married Claire Foote on August 30, 1963 in Mt. Carol, Illinois. Jeanette and Claire had 1 child, Alan. Jeanette's occupational career was highlighted by being the head baker at the Tipton Elementary School. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Tipton, IA. She loved craft projects, the Cedar County Fair and baking. She is survived by her daughter, Vesta (Mike) Doyle of Muscatine, Iowa; 2 sons, Marlyn (Roberta) Freese of Des Moines, IA; Alan (Shannon) Foote of Cedar Falls, IA; 3 step-children; 5 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 2 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Warren Rixe and Harold Rixe, sister Verna Prousch and grandson Robert Cook.
