Jerrel Clark Gallagher, 87, Tipton, entered eternal rest on July 6, 2016 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 19th at 11:00 am, First United Methodist Church in Tipton. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the memorial service, from 10:00-11:00 am. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials in Jerry's honor may be directed to the Tipton Senior Center or Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Jerry's life journey began on September 23, 1928 in Eddyville, Iowa where he was born to John and Jennie (Mitze) Gallagher. He graduated from Eddyville High School before going on to the Iowa State Teachers College graduating with a BA degree. Jerry would then go on to teach at Clarence schools where he also became the Principal and then Superintendant after going back to the University of Iowa and earning his MA and EDS degree. During this time he was also drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country from 1951-1953. Jerry spent over 20+ years with the Clarence Schools. Jerry and his wife also owned and operated the Gallagher Insurance Agency in Tipton. On August 5, 1956, Jerry married the love of his life, Alice Ann Bolton in Tipton. They have been blessed with 4 children: Lynn, Lisa, Tim and Terry. Involving himself with several organizations, Jerry dedicated time to being a past member of the Tipton Lions, Rotary, Tipton Senior Center and Tipton United Fund. He was also a current member of First United Methodist Church in Tipton. Surviving Jerry are his wife, Alice Ann; daughters, Lynn and Lisa Gallagher; sons, Tim and Terry (Sharon) Gallagher; sister, Janet Kirchmann; granddaughter, Rachel (Ivan) Lopez-Cortez. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, John Lloyd Jr. and his parents.
