John Frederick Greenwood

John Frederick Greenwood, 79, of Clarence, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. Visitation for John will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 4 - 7PM at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 11AM, Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Fry Funeral Home, with a luncheon immediately following. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Burial will ensue at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. John was born on January 20, 1935 to John Joseph Greenwood and Margaret Salscheider Greenwood in Greenbay, Wisconsin. He spent all but the last four years of his life in Green Bay and DePere, Wisconsin. He graduated high school from Central Catholic Premontre Cadets and went on to Milwaukee School of Engineering for one term then graduated with a diploma in mechanical drafting from Allied School of Mechanical Trades and Institute of Technology. John proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, combining his reserve and active duty time. He worked as a civil draftsman early in his career and focused on mechanical drafting for the remainder of his career. John was a member of Knights of Columbus, Fleet Reserve Association, Boy Scouts of America (Committee Chairman), and was an Assistant Coach for Little League games. He enjoyed family, fishing, hunting and going on vacations to Pelican Lake, Wisconsin. John was married to LeeAnn Michalske on February 8, 1962 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. They were married 18 years and are divorced but remained friends. John and LeeAnn had two children, Katherine and Michael. John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by LeeAnn Michalske; daughter, Katherine (Bradley) Williams of Clarence, Iowa; son, Michael Greenwood of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Dalton and Dustin Williams, and Cory and Brandon Greenwood; great-grandson, Bentley Greenwood; brother, Daniel Greenwood of Woodland Hills, CA; nephew, Adam Greenwood; great-nephew, Tyler; and great-nieces, Afton and Jayda; sister and brother-in law, Melinda and Dennis Bricker, and their son, Matthew; and cousin, Dick (Carol) Greenwood.
