John Edward Millard, age 73, of Tipton, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, while under the care of Iowa City Hospice. Surrounded by the love of his family, John completed his earthly journey with comfort, peace, and dignity.

John was born on August 12, 1952, in Albany, New York, to Marie J. Benson and John "Jack" E. Gallagher. He spent his early years in New York, later living in California before settling in Iowa. John graduated from Brockport High School in New York and worked as a laborer for the City of Davenport until his retirement.

John was a man with an independent spirit, a generous heart, and an appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed a cold Busch Light, and had a passion for woodworking. John had a knack for seeing potential in a piece of wood that others might overlook, transforming it into wishing wells, benches, chairs, mailboxes, and countless other creations. Family and friends knew that if John found a good piece of wood, it was coming home with him.

Family meant everything to John. In his later years, he was especially grateful to reconnect with his daughter, Tanya. Their renewed relationship became one of the greatest blessings of his life. John cherished the time they spent together and was thankful for the love and support she and her husband, Gary and grandchildren, shared with him through the years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Tanya (Gary) Krenz of Tipton, Iowa, Alicia (Jeremy) Miller of Buffalo, Iowa, Jennifer (Jose) Medina of Davenport, Iowa, and Tiffany (Benjamin) Miclot of Davenport, Iowa; sons, Brian Millard and Wayne (Tamara) Gayhart of Aurora, New York; sisters, Debra Millard Powell of Jacksonville, Florida, Nanette (Don) Green of Caledonia, New York, and Pamela (Charlie) Chiverton of LeRoy, New York; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Marie J. Benson; his father, John "Jack" E. Gallagher; his additional father Robert Millard Sr; brothers, Robert Millard Jr. and Leonard Millard; and sister, Sharon Millard Colby.
