John Schneider

John Joseph Schneider, son of Sylvester J. & Mary A. Brown Schneider, was born March 19, 1919, in Whitebreast, Iowa. He attended Catholic School in Baurer, Iowa. John served as a Pharmacists's Mate in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945 during WWII. On May 1, 1948, John was united in marriage to Louise Maxine Gilmore in St. Ambrose Cathedral, Des Moines, Iowa. He was owner and operator of Schneider's Inn in Tipton for 37 years, 1948 - 1985. John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, VFW Post 2537 and a life member of the Tipton Moose Lodge. John is loved and missed by his wife, Louise M. Schneider, of Hallmark Care Center, Mt. Vernon, Iowa; his daughters, Linda Schneider, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Diane Catron, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Kathleen Schneider, of Oshawa, Canada; Mary Rees, & husband, Jim, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; and Patricia Schneider, of Eldridge, Iowa; his sons, James Schneider, & wife Deborah, of Tipton, Iowa; and Paul Schneider, of Iowa City, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester & Mary Schneider; a son, John Joseph Schneider, Jr.; his brothers, Walter, Richard and Rome Schneider; and his sisters, Agnes Hoch, Leona Hoch, Mary Ripperger, Dora Gass and Victoria Wadle.
