Jolene Leigh Huckstadt

October 16, 1932 — June 15, 2011

Funeral services for Jolene Leigh Huckstadt, 78, of Bennett who died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 will be held Monday, June 20, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with Pastor Barbra Keiper officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2011 from 1-4 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in Inland Cemetery, Bennett. Jolene was born October 16, 1932, in McGregor, Iowa. She was the daughter of Fred and Jessie Mae (Vaughn) Bachtell. She was a 1950 graduate of Mar-Mac High School where she was known for being an outstanding vocalist. On November 14, 1952, Jolene was united in marriage to her high school sweet heart William "Huck" Huckstadt in San Diego, California. "Huck and Jo" were companions for life and were loved by many who came to know them through their various career and social functions. Jo was known for her ready smile, sense of humor and fun-loving personality. She was a dedicated mom and proud grandma. She was fiercely loyal to her family and enjoyed supporting her children in all their endeavors and later found great joy in spoiling her one and only grandson. She never missed the annual family reunion and golf outing held each fall in McGregor. She loved to spend time with siblings, nieces and nephews while staying with her life-long friend Ivy Sauer. Jolene had a special relationship with all of her family and was especially close to her twin sister Janet. Jolene took great pride in making her home a welcoming place for all. She loved to decorate and was known for being a meticulous housekeeper. She had many caring friends in the Bennett who spent hours visiting in Jo's kitchen. She enjoyed golfing and every Thursday looked forward to "girl's night out". Jo liked her outfits to match and her hair to be done "just right" as only her daughter Lori could do it. In addition to being a mom and homemaker, Jolene held various jobs outside the home. But her greatest joy was derived from her many years of providing in-home day care for many children in Bennett. Jo's House was always a special place for the children she loved. She was a member of the Bennett American Legion Auxiliary and often volunteered to serve at various functions. Jolene is loved and survived by her daughter, Lori Dunn of Bennett, Iowa; sons, Bill Huckstadt of Bennett, Kim (Luanne) Huckstadt of Maquoketa; grandson, Tate Huckstadt of Maquoketa; sisters, Martha Stuckey of Prairie du Chien, WI, Betty Allert of McGregor; twin sister, Janet (Joe) Craig of Carmel, IN; and brother, Jack (Joyce) Bachtell of Hiawatha. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Casket bearers are: Bill McGregor, Roger Allert, Ron Allert, Mike Craig, Pat Bollman, Dave Wendt, Joe Sparks, and Tate Huckstadt. Honorary casket bearers are: Pat Orr, Patrick Craig, Kelly Craig Wikert, Dee Dee Craig and the Thursday Night Girl's: Kris Wendt, Wendy Doerscher, Mary Morris, Marianne Harmel, Lori Sparks, and Deb Harmel.
