Kathleen Humphrey September 5, 1953 to March 21, 2021

Kathleen Charlotte Humphrey, 67, of Tipton, Iowa went to her eternal home with Christ on March 21, 2021. Her body will be buried in a private service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Kathleen was a kind, tender-hearted woman who was dedicated to her family and to teaching and caring for children. Her faith in Christ was the bedrock of her life. After graduating from Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, she was an elementary school teacher at Christian schools in Keokuk and Knoxville, Iowa, before moving to Des Moines to do secretarial work. She took great care to lovingly restore her Craftsman-style home in Des Moines, performing most of the restoration herself. She was an independent person who could accomplish most things she set her mind to. She loved being a part of her niece’s and nephew’s lives and, after moving back to Tipton to help care for her parents, also devoted much of her energy to children as an AWANA Commander and teacher at her church. She enjoyed gardening, restoring antiques and decorating with them, reading, singing, playing the piano for years at Cedar St. Baptist Church, her work at the Tipton Public Library, and time with her large, extended family. She was a gentle spirit who was always thinking of others. She is survived by her siblings Steven Humphrey (Black River Falls, WI), Roy Humphrey (Tipton, IA), Paul (and Mary) Humphrey (Bettendorf, IA), Lorraine (and Alan) Abrahamson (Tipton, IA), Mark (and Joanie) Humphrey (West Branch, IA), Elizabeth Humphrey (Denver, CO), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Nadean Humphrey.
