Kathryn Agnes Gleason Inks Shilling, daughter of Guy Strahorn and Agnes Nettie Day Gleason, was born November 15, 1910, in Pioneer Township, Cedar County, Iowa. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School and Ohio University, with a bachelor's degree in education with honors. On October 4, 1933, Kathryn was united in marriage to Ralph Inks and later Alfred O. Shilling, on May 6, 1961. Kathryn taught in both country school and public school in Lisbon, Tipton and Dexter City, Ohio. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Order of Eastern Star, Tipton Federated Garden Club and Tipton Women's Club. Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Mary Arline Smith, of Coralville, Iowa and Janet Ford, and husband, Norman, of Tipton, Iowa; son, William Inks, of Tipton, Iowa; a sister, Florence Gleason Clark, of San Diego, California; step-sons, Richard Shilling, and wife, Dottie, of Malta, Ohio, Wayne Shilling, and wife, Martha, of Whipple, Ohio and William Shilling, and wife, Patti, of Dexter City, Ohio; step-daughter-in-law, Donna Shillilng, of Warner, Ohio; step-daughters, Juanita Grosz, and husband, Bob, of Lowell, Ohio and Janet Stover, and husband, Pat, of Waterford, Ohio; 25 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Agnes Gleason; her husbands, Ralph Inks, and Alfred Shillling; brothers, Frank and G. Stanley; sisters, Ruth Hayes, Alice Arnold and Laurable McCrea; and step-sons, Charles Shilling and John Shilling.
