Larry was born on May 2, 1946, in Iowa City, IA, the son of Oscar Laroy and Naomi Mae (Fankhauser) Glick and raised by Oscar and Maurita Maxine (Stahle) Glick. He graduated from Tipton High School and later attended Iowa State University, where his lifelong love of agriculture continued to grow. Farming was not simply Larry's occupation—it was a way of life that reflected his work ethic, independence, and deep connection to the land.

On July 15, 1969, Larry was united in marriage to Berrie Lee in Bettendorf, Iowa. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and farming. Their marriage was a true partnership, and together they raised their family while creating a home filled with laughter, hard work, and countless memories.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War era, he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Though he was often private about his military experiences for many years, he later reconnected with fellow servicemen and shared stories of that important chapter of his life with his family. His service remained a source of great pride throughout his life.

A devoted member of the United Methodist Church, Larry remained active in his faith community throughout his life. Following the death of his beloved wife, he continued attending church faithfully and enjoyed the friendships he had built over the years. Family members fondly recalled that he could often be found taking church friends out to lunch, tending to chores, or finding another project to keep himself busy. Even after receiving a difficult diagnosis earlier this year, Larry's determination never faded. He continued doing chores and caring for the farm well into the spring.

Larry’s service reached beyond his church community. He was an active 4H leader and volunteer for over 40 years, served on the Cedar County Soybean Association, Cedar County Farm Bureau, Cedar County Planning and Zoning and sold seed for Golden Harvest seed for more than 20 years.

Larry was known for his quick wit, dry sense of humor, and practical nature. He was a traditionalist who appreciated life's rituals and routines. He loved Iowa State University, treasured the friendships he maintained for decades—including a friendship spanning more than 70 years—and had a special appreciation for photography, trees, and the simple beauty of rural Iowa.

Most importantly, Larry loved his family. During his final days, he was surrounded by those he cherished most. His children and grandchildren shared stories, laughter, and memories around his bedside, creating moments that will remain treasured by all who were present. His family finds comfort knowing they were able to express their love and gratitude, and that Larry's final days were filled with peace, dignity, and togetherness.

Those left to honor his memory include his son, Rob (Amy) Glick; his daughter, Carrie Ann Glick; grandchildren, Eli Robert Lindsey, Grady Laroy Glick, Finn Laroy Lindsey, and Carson Robert Glick; sister, Sandra Mae Dill; and many extended family members and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Berrie; and other loved ones who welcomed him into eternal rest.

Larry's life was defined by faith, service, hard work, and devotion to family. He will be remembered as a proud farmer, veteran, husband, father, grandfather, friend, and faithful man whose quiet strength left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
