Laverna Raap

Laverna Elizabeth Kleppe Raap, daughter of Charles and Augusta Rixe Kleppe, was born on September 3, 1927 on her parents farms near Bennett, Iowa. She attended school in Bennett. On September 5, 1945 Laverna was united in marriage to Herbert Arnold Raap in Bennett, Iowa. Laverna was a homemaker and mother who loved living on the farm and growing flowers. Surviving is her husband, Herbert, of Wheatland, Iowa; three daughters, Lois Hartog and husband Thomas, of Davenport, Iowa, Ruth Raap of Davenport, Iowa, Emma Mason and husband Keith, of Wheatland, Iowa; grandchildren, Deanna Carroll and husband, Stewart, John Oberhaus, Kyle Mason, Elizabeth Mason, Emma Kathryn Mason and Eric Mason; great grandchildren, Benjamin and Abigail; sister, Irene Hemerson of Bradgate, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Ella Helmold, Helen Graham, and Genevieve Schott; five brothers, Harry, Harold, Norman, Edward and Carl Kleppe. A memorial fund has been established in Laverna's memory with the proceeds being directed toward Genesis Hospice.
