Lawrence “Bud” John Daufeldt, 85, of Tipton, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25th, 1:00 pm, Tipton Masonic Cemetery with full military rites by the Tipton Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2537 and the Tipton American Legion, Post 123. All family and friends are invited to attend. The Rev. Ronald Lashmit, officiating. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Bud was born on November 16, 1935 in Cedar County, Iowa. He was the son of Edward and Bay Muse Daufeldt.  Bud was married to Joanne Thurston on May 11, 1957 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Together they raised three girls, Kelly, Lori and Erica. Bud worked for Cedar County in the maintenance department, owned and operated Daufeldt Automotive and then worked for the City of Tipton in many capacities.  Bud enjoyed cars and being a mechanic. He built and raced dirt track cars for many years and was a member of the Midwest Jalopies Association.  Bud was actively involved with the preparation and maintenance of the race track in Tipton. Bud also served his country in the United States Army serving overseas in Germany. Bud is survived by his wife, Joanne Daufeldt of Tipton; his three daughters, Kelly Daufeldt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lori Daufeldt (Rick Pierce) of Washington, Iowa, and Erica (Joe) Elizondo of West Liberty, Iowa; grandchildren, Lisa Gatto and Mya Elizondo; sisters, Frieda Hocke, Judy Ohrt, Lee Ann Smith and Janet Clark; sisters-in-law, Anita Daufeldt and Alice Daufeldt; and brother-in-law, David Miller. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Edna Miller; his brothers, Ed and Harley Daufeldt; granddaughter, Toni Gatto; and brothers-in-law, Robert Ohrt and John Hocke.
