Lorine Estella Meixner Ford, was born the daughter of Frank Fedale and Mary Matilda Vaughan Meixner, on June 4, 1913, in Cedar County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Clarence John Ford on November 24, 1937, in Tipton, Iowa. Lorine was employed at the University of Iowa for 10 yrs in the Dietary Research Department, where her interest in writing began. She bought a restaurant in Tipton and when she sold that she was hired to set-up the Coffee Gallery at J.C. Penny in North Park where she operated the Gallery until she was in a car accident that left her disabled for several years. Lorine took an interest in a writing class where she continued writing about her mother's life. She sent her draft to a publisher, who wanted her to redo some parts. She became discouraged and put the scrip away, where it stayed for 35 years. Her niece later encouraged her to finish it and with the help of Gerri, her book was published. In 1978, Lorine began working with T.R.A.I.N. as an outreach person. In 1980 she became site manager of Congregate Meals. Lorine was a member of the Rochester Methodist Women, Tipton Senior Dining, the Rochester Rockettes Kitchen Band and a former member of Farm Bureau Ladies. Lorine is survived by her daughter, Gerri Shilling & husband, Bub of Tipton, Iowa; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, sister, Lucille Schrock of Anamosa, Iowa; daughters-in-law, Diana Ford of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Elizabeth Ford of Westerville, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Ellen Meyers of Davenport, Iowa and Geneveive Meixner of Tipton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Michael and Clarence Ford; grandchildren, Patty Wright and Kevin Ford; sisters, Ada Osborn, Mable Petersen, Carolyn Elliott; brothers, John and Frank Meixner. A memorial has been established in memory of Lorine.
