She attended school in Abelene, TX and while there, was joined in marriage to Robert Lockwood Lampe on January 21, 1943. Loyce was a woman of strong faith. For over fifty years, she was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Clinton, IA and a member of the church’s woman’s group, from 1943 until the mid-1990’s. For over 30 years, Loyce was an integral part of Lou-Marges Woman’s Clothing Store and Bridal Shop in Clinton, IA. Starting out in 1963 as a seamstress, Loyce directed her career to head seamstress and eventual running of the store, where she was also responsible for setting up and overseeing the store’s fashion shows. Loyce’s daughter, Helen, remembers her mother as being “one of the girls” because Loyce had volunteered to be the ‘designated get-away driver’ for her and her friends while they were out “pulling practical jokes” and having “good clean fun”. Loyce was loved by everybody. After moving to Tipton in 1995, Loyce became a member of the Tipton Methodist Church and Tipton’s Senior Dining Center. At the dining center, she helped serve food, played euchre, enjoyed socializing with everybody and loved to make chocolate and peanut butter fudge for her closest of friends. Friends from the dining center describe her as a delightful woman that always looked pretty. Loyce loved flowers. Neighbors enjoyed seeing the beautiful flowers and flower beds all around her home and yard. It was not uncommon to see Loyce outside, sitting on the ground pulling weeds. Loyce is survived by her daughter, Helen Lampe of Tipton, IA; son, Walter (Sara) Lampe of Elizabeth, CO; grandchildren, Larry Connelly, Shon Connelly, Chester Connelly, April Lorenz, Kendall Grasmick, Alicia Lampe and John Lampe; 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Leona Jones; husband, Robert Lampe; brothers, Robert Jones and Walter Darrell Jones; and her only sister, Pauline Pruett, whom she loved dearly.
