Mardell "Marty" Mae (Edens) Cary

Mardell “Marty” (Edens) Cary, 89, of Tipton, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, while under the care of Avalon Hospice Care. It was Marty’s wish that she be cremated and buried alongside of her late husband, James “Jim” Cary, in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. A memorial fund has been established for the Tipton Senior Dining Center and may be sent to 1270 Spicer Avenue, Tipton, Iowa 52772. Marty was born on Thursday, May 26, 1932 in Davenport, Iowa. She was the daughter of William T. and Audrey M. (Ketels) Edens. She graduated from Davenport High School with the Class of 1950. On September 21, 1957, Marty was united in marriage to James “Jim” Cary in Davenport. Together they farmed and raised their family east of Tipton until they retired in the 90’s. Marty was known for raising and breeding many AKC Champion “Westies” (West Highland White Terriers). She was a past member of the Kings Daughters. She enjoyed traveling to her dog shows and driving to the mountains on vacations. Marty is survived by her daughter, Cindy Cary of Solon, Iowa and her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kristin Cary of Satellite Beach, Florida and her grandson, Max Cary. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James “Jim” Cary.
