Margaret Suzanne (Idlewine) Echeberry

Margaret “Peggy” Suzanne (Idlewine) Echeberry, 68, of New Liberty, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 after being stricken of an apparent heart attack in Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. A visitation and a time of sharing and visiting will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with cremation to follow. Peggy, daughter of Walter R. and Rita Mary Schroeder Idlewine, was born on June 28, 1950 in Iowa City. She graduated in 1969 from the Tipton High School and then attended Beauty School and Scott Community College where she earned her accounting degree. Peggy was first married to Marlo Baetke and after they divorced she was united in marriage to her best friend of nearly 30 years, Lawrence “Larry” R. Echeberry in Davenport. Peggy was an accountant most of her life and an auxiliary member of the West Point Fire Protection District, West Point, California. She loved her garden and embroidery.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Larry Echeberry of New Liberty; her children, Hope Brouwers of Davenport, IA and Chad Baetke of Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren, Koty (Jacqueline) Baetke, Alexis Brouwers, Kora Brouwers, Aric Brouwers; great grandson, Owen James Baetke; sisters, Mary Idlewine of Davenport, IA, Louise Idlewine of Rochester, IA, Martha Freeman-Weiss of Joplin, MO and her brother, Rex Idlewine of Olin, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Jim Idlewine and Walter “Pete” Idlewine.

A special thank you to the West Branch Iowa Police Officer who administered CPR, the first responders and ambulance personnel and the whole Mercy Hospital Emergency Room Staff for their valiant efforts to save Peggy’s life.
