Marie Ione Sergeant

Marie I. Sergeant, 83, of Bettendorf, formerly of Tipton, entered eternity on October 26, 2020 while under the care of Genesis East Hospital in Davenport.  Memorial Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 10:00 am at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton. Marie, daughter of Guirney and Elsie Rice Sergeant, was born on February 22, 1937 in Iowa City, Iowa Marie spent her younger years in Tipton where she graduated from Tipton High School in 1955. Shortly after graduation Marie worked for the City of Tipton as the Secretary for Mayor Gene Moore. She then went on to work at the Iowa City Recorders Office and later moved to the Quad Cities where she worked for the Moline Dispatch Argus, retiring after 35 years. Marie loved to travel, visiting 48 states and several European countries. She enjoyed music events, shows, and theater. Her Beta Sigma Phi sorority was like a family to her. Those left to honor her memory are her cousins Darlene Eichelberger, Joann Coppess and Helen Gottschalk, her Goddaughter, Liz Olsem and Liz’s sister, Vicki Homan.
