Marlin Dee Christian

March 2, 1945 — June 12, 2024

Rochester, Iowa

Marlin Dee Christian, 79, of Rochester (Tipton) drew his last breath in the comfort of his own home early on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. As Marlin requested, his body was cremated and there will be a graveside service in the Rochester Cemetery on June 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life that will follow at the Tipton VFW. A general memorial fund has been established in his memory and online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.

Marlin was born on March 2, 1945 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Mearl Burdette Christian and Marie Easter Kensinger Christian. Marlin graduated from Tipton High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. Marlin returned to his home and began working for the telephone company in Iowa City where he met his future bride, Mary J. James and on June 13, 1970 Marlin and Mary were united in marriage in Rochester, Iowa. This community became home for their family for the rest of their lives. Marlin loved the outdoors so for him planting a huge garden was a joy and sharing the produce from his garden made him even happier. He loved to fish and hunt but most of all he loved his family.

Marlin will be missed by his wife and best friend, Mary, and his two sons, Michael Christian (Karen Hemsted) and Mark and his wife, Erica Christian. And the ones who will miss him the most will be his grandchildren, Caleb Christian, Conner Christian, Miles Christian and Maxson Christian as well as his step-grandchildren, Ryan Slaughter and Katie Slaughter. Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, Mearl and Marie, his brother, Merlin Christian, his father-in-law, Walter James and his mother-in-law, Dorothy James.
