Martin Wayne Waddell, 53, of Tipton, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospital. Friends and family may gather on Friday, July 1st from 1:00-2:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton for a time of visitation. Immediately following, a celebration of life service will begin at 2:00 pm, with inurnment following at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville, Iowa. A memorial fund in Marty's honor has been established. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Marty's life journey began on July 28, 1962 in Winterset, Iowa where he was born to the late Harold and Dixie (Burkhead) Waddell. Marty attended school in Mechanicsville (where he spent his childhood and early adult years) and graduated from Lincoln High School. He then attended college at Kirkwood, completing their Agriculture program. Marty was formerly employed at Purethane Inc. and Lawson Products, with his most recent employer being Kimball Midwest. On June 15, 2013, Marty was united in marriage to his best friend and love of his life, Karen Silvius, in Tipton. Together, they have 4 boys: James, Ryan, Daniel and Anthony. Marty was a cowboy by nature and profession early in life. His time working at the cow farm, gave him invaluable knowledge and passion of horses and cattle. While his profession in life changed, his cowboy ways stayed with him throughout his life. He had a love for hunting that he shared with his father, sons and his dearest friends. Marty was a member of UKC and The Bluetick Breeders of America and served as BBOA Membership Chairman for many years. Surviving Marty is his wife, Karen (Silvius) Waddell of Tipton; sons, James, Ryan, Daniel and Anthony Waddell; brother, Terry (Patti) Waddell; granddaughter, Jaime Meiers-Waddell. Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dixie.
