Marvin Donald Miller

Marvin D. Miller, 87, of Tipton, IA passed away suddenly while under the care of University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics on Monday, March 4, 2024. A celebration of life for Marv is being planned for a future date. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfunerialhome.com. Marvin, son of Floyd and Kathryn Swailes Miller, was born on June 12, 1936 in Rome, IA. Marv was united in marriage to J. Kay Miller on April 17, 1957 in Mt. Pleasant Iowa. Marvin graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College and began is math and science teaching and coaching lifetime career at Danville, Wilton, and Tipton, IA. He touched many lives through this career and even coached his oldest grandson in 7th grade football before retirement. Some of his former students nicknamed him “Marvelous Marv” and have shared many “Marv-isms” over the years. He also managed the Tipton Country Club with his wife Kay.

Marv was a member of the Tipton Lions Club, Tipton Country Club, and Tipton Country Club Men’s Golf Association and served as Administrator on the Tipton Zoning Board. He also served his country as a member of the Iowa National Guard.

Marv’s hobbies included watching sports of any kind, hunting, wood and gourd crafting, golfing, and vegetable gardening. He spent a lot of time “in the bleachers” watching his daughters and grandsons compete in sports.

Marvin is survived his daughters, Kimberly (Craig) Regennitter of Tipton, IA and Michelle Lehmeier of Timnath, CO and his “third daughter” Deb (Jeff) Sheldon of Rochester; grandchildren, Larry (Jen) Rochau, Robert Rochau, Keith (Melanie) Lehmeier, Craig Lehmeier, Angela (Jad) Murphy and Abby (John) Wennekamp; and five great-grandchildren, Macy, Jocelyn, Regan, Alayna, and Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, beloved wife Kay of 65 years, son-in-law, Rick Rochau; and infant grandson, Christopher Rochau.
