Marvin Hugo Muhs, 82, of Lowden, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. He was born at his family home in rural Lowden on June 1, 1943, the son of Hugo and Lorena Catherine (Pauls) Muhs. Marvin attended Bennett and Lowden schools and graduated from Lowden High School in 1963. He was both a dairy farmer and a grain farmer throughout his life.
As part of Muhs Bros. “Meledee Farm,” he helped develop one of the top purebred dairy herds in the country for milk production and helped exhibit cattle at nine different fairs and national shows. They also won numerous quality awards for milk production and, over a period of 40 years, square‑baled more than 1.2 million bales of hay. Marvin loved working with the cows and planting and harvesting crops. He enjoyed watching and identifying birds, wildlife, and butterflies. He also loved telling and listening to a good joke and listening to southern gospel music.
Marvin is survived by his brothers, William “Bill” Muhs, Jonathan Muhs, Allen (Joan) Muhs, and Robert Muhs; and sister-in-law, Millie Muhs. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Muhs and Wilbert Muhs; and sister‑in‑law, Rev. Barbara Muhs.
Per Marvin’s wishes, he was cremated and no services will be held. Memorials may be designated to St. Croix Hospice for their exceptional service and care of Marvin. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
