Mary Lucile Moffit Murrison, 97, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Wednesday November 23, 2011 with her family at her side in Cottage Grove Place Health Center, Cedar Rapids. The family will hold a graveside funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday November 26, 2011 at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery in Tipton. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Those desiring to follow the procession to the cemetery are welcome to meet at the Fry Funeral Home at 1:30 PM before the service. At her request, no reception will follow the service. Daughter of Thompson and Edith Wilson Moffit of Tipton was born May 14, 1914 in Tipton. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1932, and then from Tipton Junior College in 1934. She was a charter member of the National Honor Society. She was united in marriage to Robert Murrison on May 14, 1935 in Ottowa, IL. They moved from Quad Cities to Cedar Rapids in 1948. She was a homemaker and a secretary for the business they owned, Brookfield Pest Control. She volunteered for over 40 years at St. Luke's Hospital and Auxiliary. She was also a 50 year member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, U.M.W., and the Elizabeth Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert Murrison, brother Duane Moffit in WWII, and sister Margaret Hansen. She is survived by her daughter Trenna Lou Happel; three grandchildren Doug (Ann) Happel, Bob (Diane) Happel, and Wendy Happel; three great grandchildren Molly McInroy, Kate McInroy, and Emily Happel; four sisters Virginia (Joe) Sherman, Winifred Seiter, Jean Scheeler, Jeanette (George) Knabe; and one brother Thompson (Giesela) Moffit, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mary loved her family, enjoyed traveling and playing bridge, among other interests. Special note of appreciation is extended to the excellent staff and caregivers at Cottage Grove Place. Memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice in Mary's name.
