Mary H. Scherer Salrin, daughter of Ernest and Mary Smelz Scherer, was born July 1, 1949, in Washington, Illinois. She was a 1967 graduate of Washington High School in Illinois, a 1970 graduate of Quincy College and in 1972 Mary received her Masters from University of Illinois in Library Science. On February 12, 1972, Mary was united in marriage to Thomas Richard Salrin in Washington, Illinois. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Guild and a Library Friend of University of Illinois. Mary is loved and survived by her mother, Mary F. Scherer of Mt. Calvary, WI; husband, Tom Salrin of Tipton, IA; daughters, Jennifer (Steven Collier) Salrin of Pittsburgh, PA, Melissa (Jamie Warren) Salrin of Urbana, IL, Suzanne (Brenton) Thomas of Blaine, MN; son, Christopher (Dayla) Salrin of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Lucy, Alistair, Christopher, Aidan, Julianne, Tyler, Andrew; sisters, Anne (Joe) Lotarski of Plainfield, IL, Regina (Tim) Rhodes of Concord, IL, Elizabeth (Max) Povse of Cary, NC; Joyce Scherer of Tipton, IA, Rosalee (Jorge) Pang of Panama City, Panama; brothers, Robert (Barbara) Scherer of Elyria, OH, and Br. John Scherer of Mt. Calvary, WI; She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Scherer; grandson, Eli Thomas; and four grandchildren who became angels prior to birth.
