Matthew Henry Barnum

Matthew Henry Barnum, 43, of Tipton, stepped peacefully into eternity on Sunday, June 26, 2022 in the quietness of his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 10:00 am, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, followed by burial in the Timber Creek Cemetery, Marshalltown. Pastor Sam Braden officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. A memorial fund has been established in his memory. Matt was born on January 17, 1979 in Marshalltown. He was the son of John and Tressa Arney Barnum. Matt graduated from Tipton High School in 1997. Matt was an excellent plasterer. He could work with his hands and make a perfect finished wall or ceiling. Matt was a member of the Plasterer’s Union and the Baptist faith. Matt was friendly to all and loved his dogs, Libbie and Jussy. Matthew is survived by his parents, Tressa and Richard Townsend of Muscatine, Iowa and John and Mary Barnum of Tipton, Iowa; his sister, Amanda (Russ) Hughes of Brighton, CO; his brothers, Aaron (Breanne) Barnum of Des Moines, Iowa, Benjamin (Marsha) Barnum of Clarksfork, Montana and Willie (Brandy) Barnum of Buffalo, Wyoming; his grandparents, Conrad and Vi Barnum of Sevierville, Tennessee; his very special brothers and sisters, Eric (Barb) Townsend, Shane (Candi) Townsend, Josh (Carine) Townsend and Leslie (Jake) Klipsch; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
