Maurlene Dawson

Maurlene Roberta Dawson, daughter of Russell H. and Zella M. Simons Shaffer, was born April 28, 1920, in Tipton, Iowa. She attended Tipton Community Schools. Maurlene was united in marriage to Don Dawson on August 19, 1955. She was a housewife and was employed at Owens Brush and Midwest Nameplate in Mt. Vernon. Maurlene was a member of Mechanicsville Methodist Church. Maurlene is survived by her daughter, LuAnn (Al) Robinson of Stanwood, Iowa; son, Donnie (Bev) Dawson of Clarence, Iowa; step-daughters, Fern (Jim) Vitense of Tipton, Iowa, Barbara Burgin of Marion, Iowa, Patricia (Don) Kinch of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dorie (Al) Fouts of Denver, Colorado; step-son, Harold (Carol) Dawson of Mechanicsville, Iowa; sisters, Delores (Raymond) Wildasin of Davenport, Iowa, Sharon (George) Whipple of Covina, California; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Dawson on January 17, 2003; infant son, Russell Dawson; brother, Robert Shaffer; step-son, Gerald Dawson. A general memorial fund has been established in memory of Maurlene.
