Funeral services for Melvin "Dutch" Rudolph Riedesel, 90, of Stanwood, formerly of Clarence who died Saturday, June 4, 2011 will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 4-7:30 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery in Wheatland. A memorial has been established in his memory. Melvin was born September 19, 1920, in Wheatland, Iowa. He was the son of Gustav and Emma Wolfe Riedesel. He attended various country schools and was a graduate of Stanwood High School. On April 17, 1943, Melvin was united in marriage to Evelyn Ruth Behrend in Tipton. Melvin was employed as a truck mechanic for Kirchner Ford Garage in Clarence. He was a member of Jehovah's Witness in Anamosa. Melvin is survived by his wife, Evelyn Riedesel of Stanwood, Iowa; daughter, Mary (Dan) Levsen of Clarence, Iowa; sons, Robert (Ronna) Riedesel of Clinton, Iowa, LeRoy (Glenda) Riedesel of Tipton, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, Brian, Lisa (Dana), Scott (Lisa), Lee, Chanel (Eric), Stafanie, Justin (Terri); and 9 great-grandchildren, Claudia, Gavin, Zane, Zeb, Zy, Aaron, Jaryn, Jianna, Jaden; and great-great-grandson, Owen Jewell. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Norman Riedesel.
