Melvin Thiering

September 12, 1923 — January 28, 2006

Melvin Wilbur Thiering, son of Harry and Alma Bauer Thiering, was born September 12, 1923 in Cedar County, Iowa. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1941. Melvin entered the United States Army during the Korean War. He devoted most of his life to farming the family farm. It was during this time that his fascination with tools and machinery grew and became a primary interest in his life. Melvin is survived by his sister, Dolores Kunde and husband, Elmer of Tipton, Iowa; his nephews, Richard Kunde and wife, Kerry of Tipton, Iowa and Dale Kunde and wife, Cindy also of Tipton; his niece, Deb Cook & husband, Michael of Tipton; and his great nephews and nieces, Erin, Derrick, Jennifer and Rebecca Kunde and Kelly and Jeremy Cook; his special friend, Joyce Farrington of Olin, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Alma Thiering; and a brother who died in infancy. A memorial has been established for the Tipton Ambulance in honor of Melvin
