Michael Eugene O'Neal

Michael Eugene O’Neal, 77, of Tipton, IA, died Saturday morning, September 25, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, while under hospice care for complications of COPD. On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, Fry Funeral Home will host a visitation from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Michael will then be laid to rest at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery with military honors by the Tipton Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2537 and the Tipton American Legion, Post 123 at 2:45 pm. Michael, adopted son of Harold Elmo and Elsie Virginia (Maddox) O’Neal, was born on Saturday, July 29, 1944 in Red Oak, Iowa. He graduated with the Tipton High School Class of 1963 and later attended Ventura College in California for one year. On June 26, 1963, Michael entered the US Navy and served his country until his Honorable Discharge on December 28, 1964. On May 28, 1975, Michael was united in marriage to Tina Cloud in Moline, IL. Before their separation, Michael and Tina had two daughters, Michele Ilene and Jennifer Maria. Michael was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. Michael had his own challenges in life as he suffered from Schizophrenia. He occasionally helped Dwight Jennings with his lawn care business and was most often seen drinking coffee at the Tipton Family Restaurant and riding his little red hoveround scooter around Tipton. Michael is survived by his sister, Linda Cook of San Diego, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Elsie.
