Mikel Shawn O'Haver

Mikel Shawn O'Haver, 47, died suddenly on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa due to sudden heart failure. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 1:00 PM in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held between 4 - 7 pm on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, IA. Mikel was born on January 24, 1966 in Kirksville, Missouri and was the son of Melvin Leon and Barbara Jean Pennuto O'Haver. He graduated from United Township High School in East Moline, Illinois and Scott Community College in Bettendorf, Iowa. On September 12, 1986, Mikel was united in marriage to Lisa Maria Mateu in Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa. Mikel was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton. Mikel was a welder by trade and helped build the Cedar Valley Golf Course (The Badlands), worked for Tipton Structural Steel and Tradesman International. Mikel lived in the Quad Cities as a young adult and moved his family to Tipton in 1993. He loved the outdoors, riding his Harley and being with his family. Mikel is survived by his wife, Lisa Mateu-O'Haver of Tipton, IA; daughters, Holley (Joe) Schultz of Tipton, IA, Cynthia (Michael) Davis of Washburn, IA, Michele O'Haver of Tipton, IA; granddaughter, Emma Davis; siblings, Melvin and Kathy O'Haver of Davenport, IA, Cheryl TerBush of Tunkhannock, PA, Frank O'Haver of Novinger, MO, Ronald and Naomi O'Haver of Toronto, IA, Timothy O'Haver of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Tara O'Haver of Colona, IL, Tracy O'Haver of Wheatland, IA, Miranda O'Haver and Mathew O'Haver, both of Nixa, MO, June (Jerry) Franklin and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mikel was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Leon O'Haver; mother, Barbara Jean Miller; step-father, Ralph Miller; and sister, Linda Sparrowgrove. A general memorial fund has been established in his memory.
