Mildred Carstensen

Mildred Marie Carstensen, daughter of George and Emma Messner Carstensen, was born March 27, 1910, on a farm near Riceville, Iowa. Mildred received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Iowa in 1961. She taught school in Cedar, Howard, Jones, and Scott County. She devoted 20 years to teaching in Durant. Mildred was a member of The First United Church of Christ in Tipton and A.A.U.W. Mildred is survived by her nephews, LaVerne Carstensen, Neil Carstensen, Don Shields, Eddie Joe Sheilds, Bill France and George France; three nieces, Loretta Posekany, Barb Lentner and Karen Volesky; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Emma Carstensen; brothers, Neil Pete" Donald George and an infant boy; three sisters Margaret and Blanche and her twin sister Marjorie; one niece and one grand-nephew."
