Nancy L. Garmon Bruhn, 63, of New Liberty, died Monday, July 11, 2011 of complications of cancer. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011, beginning at 4:00 pm at the Hidden River Campground, Cemetery Road, Tipton, Iowa. A general memorial fund has been established in her memory. Nancy, daughter of Alva and Maggie Thurston Garmon, was born on March 24, 1948 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was a 1966 graduate of Lincoln High School, Stanwood, Iowa. On January 26, 1979 Nancy was united in marriage to Darel L. Bruhn in Las Vegas, NV. She was a homemaker, a past EMT with the New Liberty Fire Department, a member of the Pony Express and "Queen of the Hidden River Campground". She enjoyed camping and fishing and riding in her mean machine. She inspired many people with her outgoing personality. Throughout her camping years she became many kids' grandma, mom and close friend. Surviving is her husband, Darel; daughter, Rhonda Goethals Wadsworth; son, Ryan Goethals, all of New Liberty, Iowa; grandchildren, Taylor, Levi, Jared and Mackenzie; father, Alva Garmon of Tipton, Iowa; and many friends and neighbors who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maggie Garmon, sister, Sonja "Stones" Garmon, and her father-in-law, Waldo Bruhn.
