Naomi L. Phelps, daughter of James O. and Esther M. Sharpless Phelps, was born April 23, 1917, in Cedar County, Iowa. She attended school at Elmont School in Linn County while growing up. On June 15, 1937, Naomi was united in marriage to Harold O. Wehde. Naomi was a homemaker and Secretary of Rochester Township. She was employed as Activity Director and a CNA for Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Naomi belonged to the Rochester Methodist Church, UMW, Eastern Star, Kings Daughters, Farm Bureau, and enjoyed being a 4-H Leader. Naomi is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Rich) Hambright of West Liberty; sons, Richard (Lois Jean) Wehde of Storm Lake, Ruel (Jan) Wehde of Tipton, Larry (Judy) Wehde of Gonzales, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother, Gene Phelps of Tipton; nephew, Bob Thee of Lancaster, PA, and niece, Jan Parsons of Guthrie, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold; grandchildren, Jane Wehde Postier and Alicia LouCinda Hambright; sister, Carrie Etta Stoeber; and brothers, Max Phelps and Dale Phelps. Memorials may be made to Rochester Methodist Church, Golden Rule Lodge or Hospice in memory of Naomi.
