Norma Jean Aikman

Norma Jean Aikman, 75, Tipton, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital-Mayo Clinic, due to complications from surgery. Service details are as follows: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13th from 4:00-6:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 14th at 10:30 am, also at Fry's, with the graveside committal service immediately following at Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Norma's life began on December 12, 1940, in Wheatland, Iowa, where she was born to William and Dorothy (Kleppe) Raap. She attended Bennett School before being united in marriage to the late Melvin Boll. In 1963, Norma was married to Merle Aikman and they later divorced in 1980. Norma was blessed with 5 children: Bill, Barry, Becky, LuAnn and Jennifer. Norma's employment years were spent working in various factories, the most recent being CDS and Oral B before retiring. In her younger years, Norma enjoyed fishing and camping, gardening and flowers. She later enjoyed the internet, researching a variety of topics. Norma also adopted pets, with her latest being her ornery and loving cat. Norma is survived by her five children, Bill Boll, Barry Boll, Becky (John) Thumma, LuAnn (Jim) Sheets, Jennifer Laing; sister, Phyllis Hajek; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Melvin.
