Funeral services for Norman Walter Gritton, 64, of Rochester who died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City from complications of meningitis, will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 10:30 am at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Pastor Ron Lashmit will be officiating. There will be a visitation at Fry Funeral Home Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 4-7 pm. Burial will be at the Rochester Cemetery. A general memorial fund has been established in memory of Norman. Norman was born May 23, 1948, the son of Vearl and Minnie Osborn Gritton, in Rochester, Iowa. He was a 1966 graduate of Tipton High School. On September 3, 1966, Norman was united in marriage to Gracie Arlene Clements in Tipton. He was employed as a Road Maintenance Heavy Equipment Operator for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 20 plus years. Norman was involved in the Rochester Labor Day Committee and enjoyed being an announcer for the Snapper City Days Parade. Norman is loved and survived by his wife, Gracie of Rochester; sons, Loren (Cari) Gritton of Rochester, Lonnie Gritton of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren Steven Gritton and Alicia (Cody) Remley; great-grandchild, Caden Remley; and his brothers, Darrell (Deanna) Gritton and Leland (Karen) Gritton all of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents.
