Norman Fred Rekemeyer, son of Fred W. and Amanda Thiering Rekemeyer, was born March 13, 1917, in Bennett, Inland Township, Iowa. He was a 1936 graduate of Bennett High School. Norman farmed for 18 years and was a teller at Bennett State Bank for 12 years. He served on the Bennett School Board and was a member of Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett. Norman is survived by his sisters, Nelda Siebke and husband, Elmer of Davenport, Iowa, Nola Borchers of Wheatland, Iowa; brothers, Fred Rekemeyer, Jr. and wife, Janice of Tipton, Iowa, Dallas Rekemeyer and wife, Joanne of Bennett, Iowa, Gaylon Rekemeyer and wife, Ardie of Tipton, Iowa, numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Adeline Makoben of Walcott, Iowa, Alverna Rekemeyer of Davenport, Iowa; and he especially relied on his niece, Karen and her husband, Robert Frick of Davenport, which allowed him to stay in his home to enjoy his later years with enthusiasm and vigor. Norman is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Amanda Rekemeyer; brothers, Melvin Rekemeyer, Harry Rekemeyer, Roger Rekemeyer and his wife, Luella; brother-in-law, Reid Borchers; and sister, Alice Wiese and husband, Lorane. Memorials may be made to Peace Church of Christ United, the Bennett Ambulance or Fire Department.
