Patricia Ann (Smith) Sheets

Patricia Ann Sheets, age 86, died April 9th, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA following a short illness. Pat was born on November 11, 1935 in Tipton, IA, the daughter of Lance and Frances (Hipple) Smith. She was the youngest of ten children. She married Robert (Bob) C Sheets on December 15, 1951 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Tipton, IA. They shared a life of love and joy which blossomed into the family they created together. Bob preceded her in death on March 27, 2008. Patricia’s life work was fostering a loving, welcoming home to all family and friends she held dear. In her spare time, she worked at Guys and Gals clothing store in Tipton for many years. Pat’s final work outside the home was as a dietary aide at Cedar Manor nursing home in Tipton, IA. She forged wonderful and enduring friendships with her co-workers and with the residents she so lovingly served. Pat was also a member of the St Mary’s Women’s Guild in Tipton, providing her skill in the kitchen to support numerous church functions. As a skilled card shark, Pat was a worthy opponent for any game involving a deck of cards and was particularly fond of cribbage, bridge, Play 9, Kings in the corner or basically anything that allowed her to share time with her loving family and friends. She never seemed to have idle hands and loved to knit afghans or articles of clothing for her family, decorating her house for the holidays to include a Christmas village that she fondly displayed every year, and delivering Meals-on-Wheels for several years. Surviving family members include one daughter Teresa (Brian) Agne of Tipton, IA; three sons, Brent (Gail) Sheets of St Charles, IL, Jim (LuAnn) Sheets of Solon, IA, and Scott (Cathy) Sheets of Sterling, IL; two sisters, Darlene (Rhea) Hambright of Davenport, IA, and Gloria Yock of Anacortes, WA; son-in-law Mike Williams of Dike, IA; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Linda Williams; two sisters; and five brothers. Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, IA. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Monday, April 18, 2022 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Tipton, IA. Burial will follow at St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cedar Manor or Tipton Senior Center. Cards may be addressed to 1314 North St., Tipton, IA 52772
