Paul Joseph Pelzer, son of Ralph Richard and Pauline Amelia Knebel Pelzer, was born December 31, 1925 in rural Hills, Iowa. He was a 1942 graduate of West Liberty High School. Paul was a WWII veteran, serving in the United States Army from April 11, 1946 - September 16, 1947. Paul was united in marriage to Marjorie Lorene Buresh on October 14, 1950 at Holy Family Church in Davenport, Iowa. Paul spent his life as a livestock and grain farmer. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton and Farm Bureau. He was a 4-H Leader, taught religious education, served on the Cedar County School Board, fund raising committees for Cedar County Fair Buildings, and belonged to the Cedar County Democrats. Paul is loved and survived by his wife, Marjorie Pelzer of Tipton, Iowa; daughters, Nanette Behrens and husband, Wayne of Atalissa, Iowa, Mary Moser and husband, Maury of Amana, Iowa, Peggy Murphy and husband, Mike of Marion, Iowa; sons, Jim Pelzer and wife, Mary of Tipton, Iowa, Tom Pelzer and wife, Brenda of Marion, Iowa, Joe Pelzer and wife, Bonnie of Irrigon, Oregon, Ed Pelzer and wife, Molly of Tipton, Iowa, John Pelzer and wife, Cindy of Bennett, Iowa, David Pelzer of Tipton, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Catherine Murphy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brothers, Raymond Pelzer of Atallissa, Iowa, Donald Pelzer of West Liberty, Iowa and Richard Pelzer of Tipton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Pauline Pelzer; grandson, Jacob Murphy; brother, Hubert Pelzer; sisters, Eleanor McLachlan and Loretta Ruess. A memorial has been established in honor of Paul.
